Off-Leash
Smyrna Public Library

Featuring work by: Alex Neely

Exhibition: Wed, Sep 2 to Sat, Oct 31

As descendants of the Gray Wolf, dogs are pack animals with complex behavioral patterns. They need interaction with other dogs and humans (socialization) in order to be well balanced. Any dog that is isolated and not provided with adequate exercise and a chance to interact with other dogs and humans may become territorial, dog aggressive, human aggressive, destructive or exhibit other forms of undesirable behavior and can become dangerous. Off-leash dog parks provide neutral territory where dogs can interact with other dogs, get exercise and practice good behavior. They are a huge benefit to dog owners - especially ones that do not have fenced yards where their pets can run and play. They are also great places for dog owners to meet and socialize with other dog owners.

Off-Leash is a collection of B/W and Color images of dogs being dogs at the off-leash areas at Lake Court and Burger Parks in Smyrna, GA. Its purpose is call attention to the benefit of these areas with the hope that more of these parks will be added not only in Smyrna, but in all communities.
