Enjoy the Booth Western Art Museum's latest exhibition by taking a quick trip up 75 to Cartersville for the opening of "National Geographic Greatest Photographs of the American West". This exhibition showcases an unprecedented collection of iconic images of the West created by 83 National Geographic photographers over a span of some 125 years and including such well-known names as William Henry Jackson and Ansel Adams.
Also taking place this weekend at the Museum is the Photography Symposium on Friday, October 26th, where four guest speakers will discuss the impact and evolution of photography in America. Scheduled to speak are: Michelle Anne Delaney, Director, Consortium for Understanding the American Experience - Smithsonian. Delaney will discuss Advance Work: Art and Advertising in Buffalo Bill's Wild West - based on the work of Ruth Casebier and others. Mark Osterman, Process Historian at George Eastman House, will present Field Techniques of the Earliest Western Photographers. Bob Yellowlees, Owner of Lumiere Fine Art Photography Gallery, will present a lecture on The Art of Collecting: Ansel Adams to Frederic Remington. Rounding out the speakers will be Peter Essick, Photographer, discussing Shooting for National Geographic.
