Artist and photographer Richard Scott Hill will serve as judge for the 4th Annual Simple Pleasures Photography Competition to be held at the Centre for Performing & Visual Arts of Coweta County in Newnan, Georgia (www.thecentreonline.net). Mr. Hill is the author of Digital Photography, The Creative Process, and is world renowned for his artistic works which are included in many museums, corporate and private collections, among them the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the Pushkin Museum of Art in Moscow.

A People's Choice Award is given in addition to CASH PRIZES.

Simple Pleasures 2013 opens with a reception at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, September 29, 2013 and hangs through October 29 when a closing reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. The People's Choice Award Winner will be announced at that time and Judge Richard Scott Hill will speak.

Portfolio Reviews will be conducted on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. www.simplepleasuresfoto.com

Simple Pleasures is proud to present a memorial show of works by Paul Conlan, a Coweta County photographer who garnered numerous awards for his poignant images of life in the South.

The theme of the competition is life's "simple pleasures," the interpretation of which is left to photographers submitting work for the competition.

SANCTUARY: Palladium Prints by Timothy H. McCoy
The Cultural Arts Center of Douglasville/Douglas County
Featuring work by: Timothy McCoy

Exhibition: Thu, Oct 3, to Fri, Oct 25 2013

Timothy McCoy attended Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts and has studied with Frederick Sommer, Dick Arentz, Joyce Tenneson and John Sexton. He has exhibited widely throughout the U.S., most recently at The Gallery at Penn College, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

“Sanctuary” is one of those archaic, archetypal structures inherent in the human mind, rather than being based on personal experiences. Sanctuary embodies hope and refuge in response to fear and loss—here seen through the lens of time. The unconventional beauty of the alternative photographic process of palladium printing on translucent vellum underscores the archetypal symbols referenced in this work.

Opening Reception: Thu, Oct 3, 6pm - 8pm

Artists Reception: Sun, Oct 6, 3pm - 5pm

Gallery Talk & Tour

During the exhibit, the artist will offer a demonstration of the antique printing process and use of his large format camera, an 8 by 10 inch Deardorff field camera.
