Material Witness broadly represents artwork defining our time. Organized by the Georgia chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art in collaboration with Agnes Scott College, the exhibit presents the perspective of women artists from across the United States working in a variety of media. Through their art they process the world around them, their work becoming a document of these times. Jurors for the exhibition were Lisa Alembik, Lynn Marshall Linnemeier & Marcia Wood.

A panel discussion by local artists whose work is included in the ASC permanent collection is planned.

An imprint is an impression. It is a remnant of or signifier for a thing that is no longer present. A physical imprint is a permanent mark on the landscape. An encounter or experience leaves a mark on the landscape of memory in a way that feels no less real. Identity is influenced by not only things present, but by things gone. These images refer to a selection of objects, memories and experiences that no longer exist, but continue to exert influence.
