3 Feet Above Sea Level - A Pinhole Exploration of the French Quarter, New Orleans
Sight+Sound Gallery
Featuring work by: Terrell Clark

Exhibition: Fri, Sep 14, to Sat, Oct 27 2012

This photographic journey seeks to distill and uncover those elements that help to define the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans, the French Quarter. Due to its elevation above sea level - 3 Feet - the French Quarter received minimal damage, by comparison, to the rest of New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina. Utilizing a pin-hole camera and thus necessitating long exposures times, these images reflect an averaging of time so that the true essence of this neighborhood is revealed. The resulting images have a dreamlike effect that further engages the viewer to look deeper into these surrealistic vistas. From architecture to trolley cars to its proximity to the Mighty Mississippi River, experience The French Quarter’s uniqueness that only a film-based, wide angle, pin-hole camera can offer. Through the utilization of overlapping exposures, this photographic study affords the viewer a dynamic perspective on this culturally rich neighborhood.

21 Days
The 21 Day Portrait Project
Featuring work by: Jerry Burns

Exhibition: Sat, Oct 13, to Fri, Nov 2 2012

The 21 Day Project began as a way to test a well known hypothesis: It takes 21 days to form a new habit. On January 1st, 2012 I began by shooting a portrait each day, writing about it and posting to my blog by midnight. I am writing this on Day 176. By the opening, there will be 245 consecutive days of portraiture and a new image will be added daily through the end of October.
