Seydou Keïta and August Sander: Portraits
Gallery 1600, SCAD Atlanta
Featuring work by: Seydou Keïta, August Sander

Exhibition: Mon, Oct 15, to Fri, Dec 28 2012

"Portraits," a series of works by Seydou Keïta and August Sander, presents a dynamic conversation between two modern photography masters, whose images boldly capture the social transformations of the 20th century through the faces of everyday people. Through selected portraits by Seydou Keïta of people in Mali’s capital city, Bamako, in the late 1940s and mid-1950s, alongside works from August Sander’s portfolio "Antlitz der Zeit (Face of Our Time)" from the 1920s, this exhibition explores how two prominent photographers documented shifting identities in Mali and Germany.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
