Pillow Talk
Rose Squared Gallery & Framing
Featuring work by: Carolyn Meltzer

Exhibition: Sat, Oct 13, to Sat, Nov 24 2012

Photography that reminds us that we are nothing more than a part of this world and not necessarily its master. Carolyn Meltzer creates dynamic images of nature that capture what few may notice. Her work has been featured in multiple venues in the Atlanta area.

Meltzer’s work was recently showcased in a one-woman exhibit entitled “Consider the Dew Drop,” at Rose Squared Gallery in Decatur. One of the show’s pieces, “Watercolour” received an Honorable Mention in the 2012 Women in Photography International Competition. Her ACP solo exhibit, “Pillow Talk,” features new works emphasizing vibrant, close-up, and often abstract and insular views of the natural world.

Meltzer’s photography is digital, takes advantage of only natural light, and is printed on archival watercolor paper, which further enhances its realistic and simultaneously surrealistic qualities.

21 Days
The 21 Day Portrait Project
Featuring work by: Jerry Burns

Exhibition: Sat, Oct 13, to Fri, Nov 2 2012

The 21 Day Project began as a way to test a well known hypothesis: It takes 21 days to form a new habit. On January 1st, 2012 I began by shooting a portrait each day, writing about it and posting to my blog by midnight. I am writing this on Day 176. By the opening, there will be 245 consecutive days of portraiture and a new image will be added daily through the end of October.

Clear Distinctions... Characteristics of the Moment
The Seen Gallery
Featuring work by: Thomas Hager, Sergei Isaenko, Channing Longo, Gloria Maloof, Ilia Varcev, Rori-Tai Williams

Opening Reception: Sat, Oct 13, 7pm - 10pm

Photography has always been an art in the hands of the artist. The photographic range and diversity of Ilia Varcev, Thomas Hager, Sergei Isaenko, Gloria Maloof and Channing Longo make their individual mark on photography's history by facilitating new forms influenced by the photographic practice of the timeless techniques since photography was born. The world is awash with projected images and networks...bombarding our daily senses with a medium democratized by a snapshot. The glorious imagery and innovations featured in this exhibition by these fine photographers is a feast for the eyes with clear distinctions of characteristics of the moment.
