2012 marks the tenth anniversary of the SlowExposures Photography Festival that celebrates photography of the rural American South. The Main Exhibiiton features over 80 juried images chosen by Brett Abbott and Julian Cox. Returning jurors from the past nine years will participate in the Portfolio Review and the Saturday Salon, a day of cutting edge conversations on the future of fine art photography, marketing strategies, and a presentation of work by three iconic Southern photographers. Events include satellite shows, The SlowExposures Ball, The Ten Year Retrospective, Jurors Talk, the Sunday SlowBook Afternoon, and an introductory photography seminar presented by the Showcase School of Photography.

SlowBook Afternoon

Invited artists display and sell their books from noon to 2 p.m. at the "Book Look". From 2:00 to 5:00, special guests, including Ernesto Bazan, discuss editing, publishing, distributing, and marketing options for photography books. Tickets $15.00

Established in 1976, SPS's goal is to help its members learn the skills needed to capture great images and share them with others. This is accomplished through lectures, field trips, exhibits and competitions.

This exhibit will highlight the talents and accomplishments of its 200 members.

The acclaimed Marcus Kenney returns to Atlanta with his fifth exhibition at Marcia Wood Gallery. Known for his mixed media collage paintings and assemblage sculptures, Kenney returns to his earliest medium of photography. Kenney is a storyteller and his black and white photographs are a continuation and embellishment on the ongoing narrative themes, characters and landscapes of his paintings and sculptures. The exhibition will comprise his photographs, paintings and sculpture.
