The Southern Crescent; Views from the Southside of Atlanta
Serenbe Photography Center
Featuring work by: Various Artists, Anne Berry, Donna Rosser

Exhibition: Sat, Sep 8, to Sun, Nov 4 2012

The southern side of Atlanta is a very diverse section of the city and beyond. Not only is this area home to one of the world’s busiest airports; it is home to many farms and suburban neighborhoods. On the southside you will find the National Archives Southeast, the Georgia Archives, a Carnegie Library, Spivey Hall, the setting for Tara in Gone with the Wind, Serenbe, and Atlanta Motor Speedway. Senoia and Peachtree City are known as shooting spots for TV shows - Drop Dead Diva and The Walking Dead. And speaking of zombies, have you seen the zombies of Barbie Beach in Turin, Georgia?

Come to Serenbe Photography Center this September and October to see our juried exhibit "Southern Crescent." Photographer Greg Newington juried the show from entries that capture the essence of the southside. Also on display at SPC is "Barbie Beach," a collaboration between Anne Berry and Donna Rosser. Anne and Donna have their own individual views of a southside landmark. Like they say, once you visit Barbie Beach the sand gets in your shoes and brings you back.

Anne Berry: Behind Glass
Rankin Arts Photography Center
Featuring work by: Anne Berry

Exhibition: Mon, Oct 1, to Thu, Oct 25 2012

Rankin Arts Photography Center presents the inaugural solo exhibition of Behind Glass, a series of primate photographs by Anne Berry. Dewi Lewis (Dewi Lewis Publishing, Stockport, England) writes: "I was fascinated by how distinctive her portraits of primates were. Anne photographs into enclosures where the animals are behind glass. This has a remarkable effect in terms of framing and also in the way that it adds nuances of texture that at times can be veil-like in their softness, adding to the melancholic gaze that so many of her primates evidence" (Photonews, Mai 2012). The exhibit will also include portraits of horses and other animals from the Eoh and Menagerie series.

The Rankin Arts Photography Center is located in the historic Rankin Hotel building on Broadway, in the heart of Uptown Columbus, Ga. The gallery is on the 2nd floor.

Closing Reception: Thu, Oct 25, 6pm - 8pm
