Dr. Bannon’s presentation will discuss the use of photography throughout history to communicate powerful messages and create lasting cultural icons. The talk will be followed by a question and answer session.

Dr. Anthony Bannon is the Director of George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film: the world’s oldest and largest museum of photography and film. He has held that position since 1996.

He has lectured at museums, colleges, and festivals worldwide. He currently serves as chairman of the Lucie Awards/International Photography Awards and was awarded the Golden Career Award in 2007 by the FOTOfusion Festival of Photography & Digital Imaging for his “far-reaching leadership and scholarship in the cultural community.”

Sponsored by Lumière, it complements a three part series on Photography as Propaganda being shown from September through December. The lecture is offered in collaboration with ACP and the High Museum of Art.

This program is free, however seating is limited and must be reserved through the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office at 404-733-5000. Limit 2 tickets per person. Tickets to the Museum are sold separately.
