FINDING YOUR AUDIENCE: Â An Introduction to Marketing Your Photographs

In this seminar, marketing consultant/educator Mary Virginia Swanson discusses the path toward connecting your work with your desired community. Â

One of the most gratifying experiences for an artist is presenting their work to an appreciative audience.
Â
Whether you wish to share your work with your local and regional communities, or take on the challenge of marketing at the national level, artists need to understand the most effective path to that audience. Â Â
Â
Swanson will discuss effective research to determine who will be receptive audiences and how to initiate and maintain a dialogue with those individuals to whom you wish to introduce your work. Participants will learn how to effectively communicate their work in one-on-one meetings, appropriate industry gatherings, portfolio reviews and other events. She will explain the importance of presenting a strong and consistent brand, having a presence in both print and online environments (including multimedia), and maintaining awareness of industry trends and market challenges for all audiences you wish to reach. Â

This seminar is geared towards both to photographers who are beginning to promote their work, or those who are considering broadening their marketing to include new audiences for their photographs.
