ACP 11 Lecture Series Presents Tierney Gearon

High Museum of Art - Hill Auditorium

Featuring work by: Tierney Gearon

Artist Lecture: Thu, Oct 29, 7pm - 9pm

As part of Atlanta Celebrates Photography’s annual lecture series, The High Museum presents a lecture by acclaimed, native Atlantan photographer, Tierney Gearon, in The Hill Auditorium on Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 PM. Tierney’s lecture will encompass the entire span of her career as a photographer - beginning with her first portraits of her family, her early commercial work as a fashion photographer in Europe, her discovery by Charles Saatchi, subsequent shows at The Gagosian Gallery, The Mother Project, and her newest series, EXPLOSURE.

Tierney Gearon was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1963 and attended the University of Utah. Gearon is best known for her highly acclaimed and publicized work I am a Camera, shown at the Saatchi Gallery in 2001, followed by an early summer show at The Gagosian Gallery in New York. In 2006, her second major body of work, The Mother Project became the subject of a documentary film. A book of the exhibition, Daddy, where are you? was published later that year.

This lecture, presented with the High Museum of Art, is in conjunction with an exhibition of Ms. Gearon’s work on view at Jackson Fine Art, which opens Friday October 30th at 6pm.

This program is free, however seating is limited and must be reserved. Tickets are available through the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office at 404-733-5000 and online at www.high.org. Tickets to the Museum are sold separately.
