Exhibition: Thu, Sep 30, to Fri, Nov 5 2010

John Dowell presents a contemporary portrait of Atlanta’s nocturnal urban landscapes, using medium format film. The exhibit features a selection from the 70-photograph series that contrasts the city’s gleaming modernism with its stately past, and blurs the distinction between interior and exterior. I See You. Do You See Me?
CherryLion Studios
Featuring work by: William Boling, Christian Bradley-West, Jefferson Hayman, Beth Lilly, Rob McDonald, Laura Noel, Amira Price, Ansley West

Exhibition: Fri, Oct 1, to Fri, Oct 29 2010

To examine the relationship between privacy, intimacy and voyeurism in a world increasingly open to removing the line between public and private. As we move about in public we reluctantly allow ourselves to be watched in stores, at the ATM, in the airport, and even in art galleries. Conversely, we are drawn to watching others who actively permit their lives to be filmed for television or even may be unaware of being seen in personal circumstances. What is our part in this voyeurism? Is there an intrinsic desire to connect and understand when we watch? There is also that aspect of something forbidden about watching or being watched. We are not supposed to pry into others lives or know about their secrets or hidden places and yet we want to. Maybe it is to know that we are not all different; that the things we think make us singular really make us the same. Co-curated by Susan Todd-Raque and Christian Bradley-West.
